Critical Care

Do you know who to call in the event of a pet emergency?

As a loving pet parent, you never want to see your four-legged family member in distress. Unfortunately, unexpected illnesses and sudden accidents can occur at any time. The way you handle these types of situations can make all the difference in the world for your loved one. At Fayetteville Veterinary Hospital, we want you to know that you’ve got a dedicated team in your corner. You can rest easy knowing that we’ll be there for you in your time of need.

Our hospital is equipped to provide life-saving critical care at a moment’s notice. With staff members who are experienced in emergency medicine, we can quickly diagnose the problem and deliver the most timely and effective care. Most importantly, we will handle your companion’s case with the utmost compassion, doing everything within our power to achieve a positive outcome.

Some of the signs that your pet may require urgent medical attention include:

  • Difficulty breathing
  • Ingestion of a foreign object or toxic substance
  • Broken bones
  • Cuts, lacerations or puncture wounds
  • Vomiting or diarrhea lasting longer than 24 hours
  • Bleeding
  • Trauma, such as a fall or being hit by a car
  • Swollen or tender abdomen
  • Difficulty urinating
  • Lameness
  • Disorientation
  • Foaming at the mouth
  • Convulsions/seizures
  • Loss of consciousness

If you notice your companion exhibiting any of these signs, it’s time to call for help right away. At Fayetteville Veterinary Hospital, we always recommend calling ahead when an emergency occurs. This allows us to evaluate the situation and provide first aid instructions over the phone. It also lets us prepare the hospital and other team members for your pet’s arrival. Of course, should the nature of your pet’s emergency not allow time for a phone call, don’t hesitate to come directly in for immediate attention.

We sincerely hope you never experience the need for urgent veterinary care. If you do, however, we want you to know who to call. The team at Fayetteville Veterinary Hospital will be here to provide the highest level of care available. You can count on us!

My girlfriend Elizebeth Ash and I brought Zeus for his first puppy visit and to address his tapeworm issue. Prior to going many of my friends recommended coming to the Fayetteville Vet Hospital and the drive would be worth it. Honestly I didn’t know what to expect, after speaking with the vet techs and the vet himself I can honestly say the overall experience exceeded the good things I had heard. I want to say thank you to the staff for making the experience memorable and I look forward to being Zeus by so everyone can watch him grow!

We recently had to put our rabbit Cinnamon down as she just wouldn't recover from an illness. It was not a decision that was taken lightly and the Dr. B knew that. She was immensely supportive. We just received a sympathy card in the mail today from the staff. I have never felt more confidence in a vet as I do with this practice nor have I ever received a sympathy card from a vet! We will definitely never be going to any other vet practice but here!

The doctors and staff at Fayetteville Veterinary Hospital are AMAZING!! Dr. Bunnell is great with my four-legged babies. I also have nothing but great things to say about Dr. Bennett! We have been going to Fayetteville Vet for almost 20 years now. Dr. Bunnell diagnosed our 13 year old Boston Terrier with Cushing’s Disease and surely contributed to the comfortable extra year of life we had with her. He is great with my current 3 dogs and my moms dog! He always answers my questions and concerns honestly. The staff always great my fur babies by name and with love! I wouldn’t want to take my babies anywhere else. Thank you for taking the BEST care of my frequent flyer babies! Bucksley, Bailey, and Bobo say thank you, too! ❤️🐾
