Welcome to the Fayetteville Veterinary Hospital website. Our highly skilled staff is committed to serving you and your pets by providing the best possible care in a warm and friendly atmosphere.

We are an American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) accredited practice that offers a wide array of medical services aimed at providing your pet with the complete medical care that it needs throughout its life. Our staff of veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and technical assistants are committed to strengthening the human-companion animal bond by promoting responsible pet ownership, preventative health care and client education.   

Facilities and Services
We have a spacious and comfortable reception area with separated seating areas for dogs and cats.  Our pharmacy is fully stocked with all the medications your pet may need throughout its lifetime.  Our vast boarding facility enables us to accommodate and provide loving care for your pet while you are away.  A separate surgical suite will ensure that your pet is safe in a clean and uncontaminated environment while under anesthesia.  We also offer bathing, dental care with digital dental radiology, emergency/critical care, food and prescription diets, hospice care, microchipping, pain management and digital x-rays.

  • Michael Bunnell, DVM

    Dr. Michael Bunnell graduated from Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2008.  He became the owner of Fayetteville Animal Hospital in May 2016, succeeding Dr. Edward Chapman. 

    Dr. Bunnell began his career when he was 17, as a veterinary assistant in his hometown of Auburn, NY.  Since graduating from veterinary school, he has worked in the Syracuse area in both emergency and general medicine settings for companion animals.   Dr. Bunnell’s other professional interests include surgery, dentistry and internal medicine.           

    In his spare time he enjoys landscaping, home improvement, automotive repair, physical fitness and golfing. 

    Dr. Bunnell’s pets include an energetic Doberman named Ruby and a very social cat named Nero.

  • Melissa Marsak, D.V.M.

    Dr. Melissa Marsak earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Cornell University in 2013.  She practiced in the Buffalo area for three years before joining Fayetteville Veterinary Hospital in August 2016. 

    Dr. Marsak graduated from Liverpool High School and attended Boston University for undergraduate studies in biology and Spanish.  Volunteering at an animal welfare organization in South Boston was her first experience in veterinary medicine.  During a semester abroad in Madrid, Spain she did an internship at an equine hospital.  Dr. Marsak treats all aspects of canine and feline health, with special interests in dentistry, dermatology, anesthesia and pain management.

    During her free time, she enjoys cooking, hiking with her dog Maisy, and watching movies. She and her husband love to travel, whether it's to camp in the North Country, scuba dive in the Caribbean or backpack through Europe.  They are excited about returning to Central New York to be closer to family.

  • Lauri LaPlante

    Lauri LaPlante

    Practice Manager
    Lauri came to work full time for the Fayetteville Veterinary Hospital in 1999, after working many years as a customer service/billing representative for a local company.  Lauri works hard behind the scenes to help keep our hospital running smoothly.  While not at work, she enjoys spending time with her husband, son and two dogs.  Lauri is also an equestrian enthusiast and has three horses.

  • Terri Drake

    Terri Drake

    Licensed Veterinary Technician
    Terri obtained her veterinary technician degree from SUNY Delhi and started her career with Fayetteville Veterinary Hospital in 1986.  Terri is our head technician and helps oversee nearly all of our surgical and hospitalized patients. While away from work, she enjoys family vacations with her husband and three children, watching football and baseball, and taking her three dogs for long walks.

  • Kim Pedercini

    Kim Pedercini

    Licensed Veterinary Technician
    Kim earned her veterinary technician degree from Northern Virginia Community College in 1990. She has been employed by the Fayetteville Veterinary Hospital since 1991. Kim's areas of interest are nursing and animal welfare. While away from work she enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters. Kim has three cats and two dogs.

  • Ashley Champion

    Veterinary Assistant
    Ashley started as a veterinary assistant with Fayetteville Veterinary Hospital in 2004.  She is currently working on completing her veterinary technician degree and enjoys helping out with surgery and anesthesia.  Her interests outside of work include dairy farming, showing draft horses and taking vacations on a beach.  She has a Doberman named Khali.
